You’ve been there before. You’ve thought about it countless times. You’ve done your research. You weighed in on the pros and cons. But you’re still here; undecided. Its human nature.
You know how life has a way of unleashing surprises on you? Just when you think you have seen it all, something new comes along. You are always, at any given point, one decision away from living a totally different life. But why is it so difficult to make simple decisions, even when you know the answers? You find yourself needing to look for validation from others. Suddenly, their opinion matters.
We’ve all been there.
The thing about it is, we look for answers in what we can see. We hope that somehow, if we look close enough, we will have a glimpse into the horizon. To see what lies ahead. Then maybe we could make our decisions a little bit more resolute. This is rarely, if ever, the case.
I have faced this dilemma for a while now. At the back of your mind, you tell yourself that all you need to do is take that leap of faith. Take the jump. The other day I was having a conversation with a friend of mine. She has been debating on whether or not to compete for a high profile international pageant. And I told her, “Hey. You have to make that jump. You’ll either fly, or land on your feet. Otherwise, you simply never know.” Somehow, we always have deep cutting doubt. It could paralyze you if you’re not careful. It could prevent you from realizing your full potential. And you cannot afford to feed this doubt. Don’t let the fear in you be the reason you let things pass you by. Later on I started asking myself, how is it that this advice is easier said than done? It was easy for me to tell her to take the jump, when I’ve been trying to convince myself to take a different jump for some months now.
Decisions.
Choices.
I think the most difficult thing about them is the fear of the unknown. What is beyond the horizon? Obviously something that is not visible to the naked eye. It is more about the faith in us than it is about the decision we must make.
When you look deep within you, what keeps the fire burning in you? What influences your flow of thoughts? What influences your decision making process? All of these answers are within us. And we could try and listen to people, look around for answers, but, the final decision is personal. You can either take the leap, or remain the same. And what good would it do to stagnate?
A life lived in purpose, taking necessary risks, with more wins and lessons is definitely a life well lived. Why not take the jump? Discover what lies beyond the horizon. Take the adventure. You either win or you learn. So I have come to realize.
You’ve got to take the jump. And hope that you fly. Just like the eagle believes in its wings as it takes to the sky, so you must believe in your ability to excel and succeed, regardless of any adversities you may face.
To a great new week!!
